Dear Friend and Supporter,
In August 2014, a group of five travelled to Maun Botswana.
While we were there, the Journey of Discovery partnered with Aglow International to provide supplies and support for families, elders and orphans in the community. The team visited 20 seniors, of which two were 98 years old. We also spent time at an orphanage and rehab facility, engaging with 25 at-risk youth ages 7 through 12. Leadership training was provided to local individuals and organizations making a daily difference. A construction project was funded starting with a fence around 4,000 square meters of land for a community care center. Our team, with the assistance of the Boy Scouts, cleared the land and helped build the fence. In addition, we spent time meeting with local families handing out toothbrushes (provided by the Tooth Fairy Children’s Foundation), stickers, skipping ropes and soccer balls. A strong foundation was laid for future visits and sustainable social projects.
